Surfers aren’t the only ones preparing for a big swell this summer. A wave of visitors will almost double the Geelong region’s population over the holiday season, which is why Barwon Water is hitting the streets with a new campaign reminding holidaymakers to use water wisely.

A range of materials, including posters and newspaper ads will remind people of our permanent water saving rules. Caravan parks and other holiday accommodation providers will receive waterproof materials to put in their bathrooms to remind people to take shorter showers and use the half-flush.

New characters ‘Drip’ and ‘Drop’ are the stars of the campaign. ‘Drop’ the water droplet always tries to do the right thing and conserve water, while ‘Drip’ is very wasteful.

Barwon Water and its life-sized ‘Drop’ mascot will tow its vintage caravan to a number of popular events over summer, including the Nightjar Festival, Pier to Pub, Apollo Bay and Anglesea markets, to spread the message and ensure visitors to Geelong and the region’s Bellarine and surf coast do their bit to conserve and preserve water while on holiday.
