Winemakers in the Grampians are serious about producing quality Shiraz and this Melbourne Cup weekend they are celebrating with masterclasses, unique tasting experiences, special events and live musical performances.
There are dozens of historic and boutique wineries scattered across the undulating Grampians wine-making region in Western Victoria which has a long and rich history for producing its dense, purple and peppery Shiraz.
In the wine village of Great Western, you can discover the iconic Best’s and Seppelt wineries, whose vineyards have grown Shiraz since the mid 1800s.
Some say that the Grampians produces the best Shiraz in Australia.
