Great Victorian Bike Ride – which features the Great Ocean Road in 2016
November 25, 2016 - December 4, 2016
This year’s RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride will explore the hills of Halls Gap, the coastal cliffs of the Great Ocean Road and everything in between.
With the iconic Great Ocean Road and the awe-inspiring Grampians as a backdrop, the 2016 RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride promises to be an extraordinary experience with people being encouraged to book early.
Rebecca Lane, Bicycle Network General Manager – Events, said: “This year’s RACV Great Victorian Bike Ride will explore the hills of Halls Gap, the coastal cliffs of the Great Ocean Road and everything in between.”
Starting in Halls Gap on Saturday 26 November the route winds its way through the Grampians National Park towards the Great Ocean Road. The coastal ride ends after 527km on Sunday 4 December in Geelong. Overnight stays include Halls Gap, Dunkeld, Apollo Bay and Queenscliff.
The top five highlights include:
- Exploring the Grampians
- Staying overnight beside Australia’s most photographed coastline, the 12 Apostles
- Enjoying the chance to ride without traffic between Skenes Creek and Lorne
- A rest day enjoying the cafes and restaurants at the seaside village of Apollo Bay
- Living, loving and socialising all week long.
“This is the chance to see Australia’s most famous coastal road from the seat of a bike while camping with thousands of your best mates,” Ms Lane added.
Around 4,500 participants of all riding abilities from across Australia and overseas, ranging in ages from under ten to over 80 are expected to join the holiday.
With three, five and nine day ride options there is a holiday for everyone.
