The Meet the Maremma Experience is fun, educational and interactive. You will learn about little penguins and the importance of protecting them. You will also learn how this world first project uses Maremma dogs to look after the penguins on Middle Island. You will be given the opportunity to pat and have a photo with a Maremma guardian dog. By attending the tour, you will be financially supporting the ongoing success of the project. All funds from the tours go towards the care of the Middle Island Maremma dogs.

Things to Note

• You will be learning about the unique Middle Island Penguin Project that uses Maremmas to help protect the little penguins from predators like foxes.
• You need to wear the safety equipment provided to you – this includes a Hi-Vis Vest.
• You need to listen to the tour guide / dog handler who will tell you how and when to approach the maremma.
• You should wear shoes suitable for uneven ground. Your shoes will get sandy and maybe even wet.
