Port Phillip Mussel and Jazz Festival – South Melbourne

March 10, 2017 @ 9:00 pm - March 12, 2017 @ 6:00 am

A two-day seafood and jazz street party for fans of shellfish

The fourth annual Port Phillip Mussel and Jazz Festival will be serving five tonnes of mussels with a side of live jazz music over the Labour Day long weekend in March. On March 11-12, South Melbourne Market will be celebrating the mollusc as market restaurants Koy, Claypots Evening Star, Paco y Lola and Simply Spanish cook up their best seafood dishes alongside other restaurant pop-ups.

Expect dishes like Simply Spanish’s famous paella, Claypot’s spicy mussels, and fresh oysters and prawns from the famous Aptus Seafood. Agathé Patisserie will also be selling their freshly baked baguettes so you can scoop up those tasty juices at the end of your meal.

This year, live jazz music will give the market a New Orleans vibe as some of the country’s best jazz bands take to the stage while you slurp down some mussels to live acts including The Shuffle Club, The Pearly Shells (very relevant), Margie Lou Dyer, and even an Elvis impersonator.

Entry to the festival is free.
