Join us for the 12th annual Dachshund Dash this June long weekend. The miniature creatures put it all on the line – well, some of them don’t quite find the finish line – in what we guarantee will deliver the highest and most equal doses of thrills and cuteness you’ve ever seen!

Last year the race attracted 72 racers with almost 2,000 people cheering them on. And this year it’s back with a new Veteran’s Division for the over 8’s. Scores of scurrying sausage dogs in a heart-stopping race for glory? It’s no wonder they call it the Melbourne Cup of dog racing.

SCHEDULE – SUNDAY 10 JUNE, 2018

9:15am          Dog’s Breakfast on the Village Green, Corner Bank and Sackville Streets
Dogs of all breeds are welcome to join in the fun and games on the Village Green. Sausage sizzle, coffee carts and the annual class photo of dogs and owners. And let’s not forget the fashion on the field! There’s always a few stylish pups and owners in interesting attire and we wholeheartedly encourage the frivolity.

10:15am         Dog’s Parade down Sackville Street to Port Fairy Cricket Oval
Strut your stuff down the main street to the racing venue. A final chance for pups to warm-up before the main event.

11:00am          Dachshund Dash, Race track, Avery’s Paddock,  Port Fairy Cricket Oval, Campbell Street
There’s more food and a coffee cart, but it’s the dogs that the crowds come for. Enjoy the flurry of intense action as the three main races (under 2’s, over 2’s and now a Veterans race) take place, after their respective heats of course. All this followed by the cute and fun obstacle races and other categories. Who will take the title crown this year?
